It has been a year since the underground gas tanks and pumps were removed from the Round Hill Service Station and the land in their place is still getting settled. However, the shop remains busy in continuing to provide full service, maintenance and repair on various cars.
Before the gas facilities were removed, the shop enjoyed a stellar reputation of personal service and quality workmanship for the cars of Round Hill residents and customers from Westchester and Fairfield counties for many decades. The calendar is always full with appointments 3-4 weeks in advance.
For 35 years, John Wood has presided over the work with a superior foundation of mechanical knowledge and experience with all types and years of vehicles. He is supported by long-time staff members Hector Colon (25 years), Erik Toquica (12 years), and Jack Lamb (3 years). Sandy Strain Regan handles all the administrative duties from billing, payments, and customer record keeping, to parts ordering. The team welcomes customers with a pleasant smile and a personal approach to resolving problems.
One can routinely find antique or new, foreign or domestic, and hybrid or electric cars inside. You might see a Delahaye or a Morgan Cabriolet, a Rolls Royce or Bentley, an old wooden station wagon, or a 1913 Model T. Most standard mechanical work can be done on hybrid and E vehicles, but this does not include any of the electric propulsion systems unique with these cars.
Open six days a week, you can buy a sandwich from the adjacent Round Hill Store along with coffee and a newspaper. John keeps meticulous records so he can tell you what work he did a year ago and when your car needs attention. You might only bring the car in for an oil change but he will remind you that your worn tire tread indicates you need to pay attention to the wear and tear.
