If you’ve visited the beautiful 135-acre Fairchild Wildflower Audubon Sanctuary off N. Porchuck Road, you may have passed a wrought iron gate on the opposite side of the street. In fact, if you’ve never entered the property but looked upward from this entrance, you’ll see what appears to be a hilltop two-story stone country lodge with large, fanciful outdoor sculptures in nearly every direction. Perhaps you’ve wondered, “Does this gate ever open, can I take a look inside, what will I find?”
The nonprofit Seven Bridges Foundation offers visitors an opportunity to view large modernist and figurative paintings, as well as photographs and glass art, within the over 28,000 square feet museum galleries. The 80 acre grounds feature a diverse outdoor sculpture garden in a natural setting with landscaped views. Guest artists often are in residence and present to the community throughout the year.
Seven Bridges is open to the public by appointment on Thursdays through November between noon and 4 pm. Entrance is $25 for adults, $20 for seniors, and $15 for students. Limited parking is available. For more information go to sevenbridges.org and to make a reservation, email info@sevenbridges.org
